Canyons

Jim and Judy Visit the Southwest

Canyons, Lakes, Desert, Rocks, Endless Sky …
and Las Vegas

This is a personal journal of a fun vacation,
reconstructed and transcribed in 2015 from my scribblings
that were hastily written down each evening of the trip in 2008
and preserved in one of those Moleskine notebooks
I’ve grown quite fond of over the years,

filled with many photographs of canyons, lakes, desert, rocks, endless sky,
and all the other sights one would expect to spy in those sites,
in addition to a few photos of the sights sighted in Las Vegas,

which is hardly a “den of iniquity,” as one hears it described in this part of the country,
(especially on a dark and stormy night in some more conservative
hang-outs and households around here,
those places forming, as you might suppose or surely see
if you look at any of my photogaphs of the southeast,
a countryside and cultural mileu quite unlike what you’ll see on these web pages)

but is, on the contrary, a really fun place to visit, though, I must admit,
supporting a life-style I’m not accustomed to here in the buckle of the Bible belt.

That sentence was fun to write. Hope you enjoy the trip with us.
Jim is solely responsible for the poorly written first-person prose.
Judy would have done a much more refined job of it.
