Cruising with Friends

Amsterdam to Budapest

Passau, Melk
and the Wachau Valley

Judy and I had taken the Uniworld guided walking tour of Passau before, so this time, we avoided the typical stops in the center of the old town, spent time at the market in front of the cathedral, had fun looking at doors, and met a couple of artists who were in their shops. Overall a delightful day.

When we got to Melk, Judy and I both decided to take a break and stay on the ship. We had toured the Abbey before, gawked at the Baroque splendor, and didn’t feel moved to visit again. Of course that didn’t prevent a little curiosity on my part, so I left after a while and walked along the river for about a mile, passing several other cruise ships, to the point where a tributary entered the Danube. The view of the Addey was really good, and there was one interesting (?) sculpture to see in a park.
